Product Details
Sherlock Herringbone Walnut is a world first in engineered veneer wood flooring technology. It uses a 0.6mm real wood veneer as a top layer but is then coated in our exclusive lamination surface to give an AC5 Rated wear layer on top of the real wood. The result is a real wood floor in your home that will last for years without the need for sanding or refinishing. The AC5 rated wear layer ensures the wood is significantly more resistant to wear, scratches and stains, compared to even the best-toughened wood floor lacquers. Sanding is not required with this floor due to while retaining the true beauty, feel and warmth that only real wood can offer. It is one of the best wood flooring product we have seen yet, and it's certainly the toughest.
Veneer Wood Flooring
Veneer wood flooring can be a fantastic alternative to a solid wood floor or a laminate. They are made up of a very thin layer of real wood that is then protected by either a lacquer or other protective surface to reduce the chance of wear on the real wood. Because the top layer of real wood veneer is so thin it is extremely important to make sure the protective layer is extremely hard wearing and also flexible. This will greatly reduce the chances of scratching or chipping the floor. Normal lacquers or even oils are commonly used on real wood veneered flooring, but we find them inadequate as normal lacquers and oils can and will scratch and mark easily. We use an AC5 melamine to protect our Sherlock diamond floor. Simply put it is highly resistant to scratching and is also flexible so is very difficult to chip.
