LVT flooring, commonly known as Luxury Vinyl Tiles are a reasonably new product on the floor coverings market that have grown quickly in popularity thanks to some impressive properties. LVT is very hard wearing, water proof and can sometimes be softer and warmer than regular laminate flooring. But what exactly are LVT Floors?
They can have various construction types, but most often it will use a dense fibre glass core with a decorative paper and vinyl wear layer on top. The Top vinyl wear layer will often range between 0.3mm and 0.6mm. The thicker ones will last longer, but even a 0.3mm wear layer should provide a surface that lasts long enough for any domestic installation.
It is also important to know first of all that they come in various types. Some are rigid, while others are softer and more flexible. Some must be stuck down, while others use a click system and are installed on a suitable LVT underlay. It's important to know which type of floor you are buying to ensure that you purchase the correct accessories such as an LVT Glue or an LVT underlay. At Wood Floor Warehouse we only sell click LVT that is installed on underlay. We think it is easier to install, especially as a DIY project and it is always nice not to require messy glues and there is no drying time. You can walk on your floor right away, and even lift it up and lay it in another room.
